The VISION MX is a scientific quality IEEE-1394 (FireWire) monochrome digital camera suitable for a wide variety of bright-field and low-light imaging applications. The camera has a full-field resolution of 1360 x 1024 pixels. Images may be captured in either 8 or 10 bit depth. The convenient
IEEE-1394 digital interface of the VISION MX eliminates the need for expensive frame grabber boards and provides for an easy to use one cable interface to any desktop
or portable computer with a FireWire port.
The VISION MX has many features to enable precise acquisition of scientific images. For low-light applications, exposures of up to 100 seconds are available. This makes the VISION MX ideal for gel documentation and analysis systems. Also available is an analog gain control that allows signal amplification of up to 100 times. Analog black level control with a range of 0 to 63 mV is provided for precise calibration of the black level of acquired images.
The VISION MX has a high-speed preview mode useful for precise and rapid focusing of images. In preview mode, rates of up to 30 frames a second are available with a resolution of 680 x 512 pixels.
Images may be acquired by the VISION MX in either 8 or 10-bit depth through software selection. When acquiring 10-bit images, one of two pixel read out rates may be used, either 14 MHz or 7 MHz. Though both pixel read out rates provide full 10-bit data, a high frequency limiting filter used with the slower pixel read out rate allows for slightly more precise images for those applications in which it may be useful.
The VISION MX comes with several software applications that allow full control of all the camera’s capabilities. GT Vision VisiCapture is a full-featured stand alone application that allows for full camera control and easy and rapid acquisition of images. GT Vision VisiCapture is currently available for Windows 2000 and Windows XP platforms also Macintosh OS X
