Making taxonomic studies of insects can be very demanding. The problems become particularly significant when large collections have to be classified and imaged. Difficulties are associated with inadequate depth of focus, poor lighting and simple sample handling issues of tiny insects. GT EntoVision have set out to find and develop as many tools as possible to help solve these problems.

Imaging Insects in amber
There are few more fascinating creatures to study than prehistoric insects trapped in amber. Unfortunately studying these insects, or rather their imprint, poses particular problems.....
Improving photography of small insects using novel lighting techniques
Recent research has created superb images of the most difficult specimens including microscopic insects. These results can be created by placing pinned insects within light diffusing chambers and with a careful choice of lighting, camera, optics and software. GT EntoVision’s staff have worked closely with leading entomologists to help generate these exceptional results.

Extending the depth of focus
Obtaining publication quality images of three dimensional insects at high magnification is nearly always hampered by the limited depth of focus of the optics in the microscope. GT EntoVision’s extended focus products not only solve this problem but also provide a wealth of valuable tools designed to assist in the efficient generation of large numbers of first class images, easily and quickly.
